Counseling for Young Adults

For example, in her book, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, Amy Chua (2011) explains that traditional Chinese mothers leave no room for imperfections. They expect their children to be the best. Chua writes, “…1) schoolwork always comes first; 2) an A- is a bad grade; 3) your children must be two years ahead of their classmates in math; …6) the only activities your children should be permitted to do are those in which they can eventually win a medal; and 7) that medal must be gold.”

Parents of Young Adults:

Parents are still an important part of their older teenager’s life. In many cases, young adults still live at home or are dependent on their parents financially. If you’re concerned about your young adult child, encourage him or her to give me a call. I am also happy to consult with parents if you are helping your child navigate the process of finding a therapist.
