If I show you my flaws….

If I Show you my Flaws by Sharon Martin, LCSW #perfectionist #flaws #notperfect #imperfect

If I showed you my flaws
If I couldn’t be strong
Tell me honestly, would you still love me the same?
(from Locked Away by Rock City, featuring Adam Levine)

If I show you my flaws, will you still love me? That’s really what we’re all afraid of, isn’t it?

If I’m not perfect…

If I make a mistake…

If I majorly screw things up…

If you figure out that I’m a hot mess…

If you know what I’m really thinking…

If I get fat…

If I get old…

If you know what’s really in my heart…

If you find out about my past…

If I lose my job…

If I fail

Will you

still like me?

judge me?

reject me?

ignore me?

trade me in for someone younger, smarter, hotter?

still think I’m worthy?

be my friend/partner/lover?

laugh at me?

tell me I’m crazy?

hate me?

think I’m a fraud?

respect me?

Sharing your true self comes with a lot of risks. We all crave love, affection, belonging. We also want to be known, really known. And if someone is going to really know you, they need to get past the “perfect façade” we all like to put on.
