I recently wrote an article for Psych Central titled The Top 10 Confessions of a Recovering Perfectionist. In it, I revealed ten of my perfectionist habits.
I’ve worked long and hard on overcoming perfectionism. And I still continue to challenge that negative internal voice that says “it’s not good enough”. I’ve learned to let go of a lot of things, to relax and enjoy my life, to be nicer to myself, and to take more risks. I’ve come to realize that people don’t actually give much thought to my short-comings.
Now, it’s your turn. What are your perfectionist habits? Write them down for yourself or share them in the comments if you’d like. It can be really powerful to realize you aren’t alone.
I see a lot of perfectionists in my psychotherapy practice. I love helping them overcome the challenges of perfectionism because 1) I relate to their struggle and 2) They are hard-working and goal oriented. If you’d like to learn more, please join my mailing list.
