Remembering

Yesterday I attended a service to remember those who died this year while homeless. 39 men and women were memorialized. The youngest two (in their 20’s) were brothers who I knew briefly through my work at EHC’s youth shelter. Through a sad set of circumstances the older brother died earlier this year and his younger brother died just this month. Life was a struggle for them and they had more than their share of hardship and grief. I know they are both missed.

And today there was the unbelievable shooting at a CT elementary school. It is hard to make sense of so much tragedy. I have avoided the TV today or discussing it with my children. I know I can’t forever, but it is just so awful. I think we are all mourning for the families affected. I know I am.
